Course Overview
The Trauma Nursing Core Course (TNCC) is regarded globally as the benchmark program for developing trauma nursing capability. Grounded in the latest evidence and designed by the Emergency Nurses Association (ENA), TNCC equips clinicians with a structured, reliable framework for rapidly identifying and managing life-threatening injuries in the crucial first minutes of trauma care.
Across the 9th Edition curriculum, participants learn through a blend of interactive discussions, visual demonstrations, immersive skill stations and realistic scenarios that reflect contemporary trauma presentations. TNCC strengthens clinical thinking, prioritisation and teamwork, enabling nurses to deliver safe, timely and coordinated trauma care in any setting.
Learning Outcomes
Perform a structured Primary Survey using the TNCC Trauma Nursing Process
Identify and manage immediate life-threatening injuries
Effectively assess airway, ventilation, circulation and neurological status
Recognise and manage shock and haemorrhage
Prioritise interventions for multi-system trauma
Apply evidence-based care to head, chest, abdominal, spinal and musculoskeletal trauma
Incorporate paediatric trauma principles into clinical decision-making
Communicate effectively within trauma teams using structured communication
Improve confidence and clinical precision when responding to high-acuity trauma presentations
Assessment Requirements
Complete required online learning modules
Pass the MCQ examination with a score of ≥80%
Successfully complete the Trauma Nursing Process (TNP) practical evaluation, demonstrating all critical steps and achieving ≥70% of available points
Participate in all lectures, skill stations and scenarios
